Partner News: Winners Of The First Virtual Broadcom MASTERS Have Been Announced
The winners of the 10th annual and first virtual Broadcom MASTERS® were announced Wednesday night. Every year, 30 finalists are chosen from the country’s young scientists to compete in the nation’s premier Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) middle school competition.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, this year was the first time the competition was held virtually. The Society for Science & the Public adapted the program for a virtual setting, including a pivot to online judging caucuses, well-thought-out scheduling and remote technology assistance and more. Each finalist presented their research project on Zoom, participated in online team challenges and utilized laptops, webcams, hotspots, and professional lighting provided by the Society and the Broadcom Foundation to ensure fairness.
