Chapman University Presented 18th Annual Holocaust Art and Writing Contest Awards Ceremony

Chapman University’s annual Holocaust Art and Writing Contest reached new heights this year with a record-breaking 250 middle and high schools registered to participate.  Now in its 18th year, the contest involves some 7,000 students representing 30 states and eight countries.  Each school sends forward to the final round of judging three entries on the theme “I Have a Story to Tell.” The awards ceremony honoring entries in prose, poetry, art, and film, was held in Chapman’s Memorial Hall on Friday, March 10, at 11 a.m. with over  1,000 students and teachers and 20 Holocaust survivors from Orange and Los Angeles Counties in attendance.

Samueli Academy Summer Work Program Highlighted

The Orange County Register shared the stories of several students participating in the Samueli Academy’s summer job program. Thanks to partnerships with 41 local businesses, all 115 incoming seniors were able to gain invaluable internship experience as part of this program.

US News & World Report recently published an op-ed article written by Samueli Foundation Executive Director, Gerald Solomon and STEM Next Director, Ron Ottinger. Both serve as Co-Chairs of the STEM Funders Network and shared their expertise on the concept of STEM learning ecosystems.
