Henry and Susan Samueli donated $25 million to Israel’s Beilinson Medical Center, which was matched with an additional $9 million from Clalit Health Services, to create a holistic cancer treatment institute, which is meant to both treat patients and perform research, the incoming chairman of the institute told eJewishPhilanthropy.

Chapman University’s Annual Holocaust Art & Writing Contest welcomed more participants than ever this year, with 220 schools registered from 32 states and 11 different countries around the world. This year’s participation showed a significant increase in the number of international entries. 14 schools in Poland sent entries, and 1st prize recipients included students from South Africa and Romania, while students from Germany and Poland were finalists.

One of Tel Aviv University’s most ambitious collaborations to date is being realized through the vision of Prof. Henry Samueli, co-founder and CTO of semiconductor giant Broadcom Inc., and his wife Dr. Susan Samueli. The new R&D center for Broadcom being built on the TAU campus will be dedicated in their name. The Building is unique in that it will house Broadcom engineers and TAU professors and students – all under one roof.

Chapman University’s annual Holocaust Art and Writing Contest reached new heights this year with a record-breaking 250 middle and high schools registered to participate. Now in its 18th year, the contest involves some 7,000 students representing 30 states and eight countries. Each school sends forward to the final round of judging three entries on the theme “I Have a Story to Tell.” The awards ceremony honoring entries in prose, poetry, art, and film, was held in Chapman’s Memorial Hall on Friday, March 10, at 11 a.m. with over 1,000 students and teachers and 20 Holocaust survivors from Orange and Los Angeles Counties in attendance.
