As part of its work to help health care organizations practice whole person care, Samueli Foundation’s Integrative Health Programs team began working with Alan Roth, DO, chairman of the department of family medicine at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center (JHMC) in Queens, New York, in 2019. Dr. Roth was featured in the Time: 2020 Guardians of the Year article.

The Samueli Foundation announced this week that Executive Director Gerald Solomon is retiring after 12 successful years with the organization. Concurrently, Senior Program Officer Michelle Freeman has been named Interim Executive Director for the foundation. A permanent replacement will be named in the near future.

The UCLA Samueli School of Engineering has received its largest gift ever: $100 million from longtime supporters Henry and Susan Samueli. The gift, made through the Samueli Foundation, will be used to spur the engineering school’s planned expansion, which is to continue well into the next decade and is its most significant growth since the school was founded in 1945.

When Gloria Huerta first walked into the weight-management clinic at the UCI Family Health Center in Santa Ana about six months ago, she was struggling with diabetes, depression and knee pain.
